Lecture outline

The patterns of immune response will be described, concentrating on the role of key cell types such as lymphocytes and macrophages and how abnormal responses can cause disease.

Immunopathology 1

Created by Prof. Mike Dixon

Female age 36

Tissue: Nasal mucosa

This woman had a long history of hay-fever. She presented with 'stuffiness' and a feeling of 'something up her nose'. On examination a smooth, pedunculated polyp almost obstructed the left nasal passage. The lesion was removed under local anaesthesia.
